How to geckos Against Gravity

Lizard crawl on walls or swinging in between the lights on the ceiling is a common sight in tropical countries. Slick-skinned animals that crawl on the wall is named gecko. This animal is a species of lizard that can be voiced, in addition sputters, even these animals emit a loud voice that sounds similar to the word 'gecko', which is why this is called gecko lizards.

Recent research shows that the gecko's ability to attach to a surface can foster the idea to create the glue that is not sticky to the touch and can clean itself the first in the world! According scientists at the University of California, gecko foot function much like the tape that we use. Of course, the strength of adhesion of gecko feet is much, much stronger than the adhesive tape that is in the world.

Scientists have often analyzed to understand the power of gecko feet sticky lizards. For years scientists have assumed that the bearing is in the foot lizard creates a sucking function. This idea is indisputable when an experiment to prove that the lizards continue to cling to the surface, even on the surface of a vacuum.

Researchers have recently found the answer to why the gecko can creep up and roam in the ceiling and walls without falling. By carefully examining tiny hairs that covers the toes of geckos, the researchers discovered that microscopic hair splitting into a super small pads called spatulae. This spatulae unbelievably small. The combination of the adhesive on these pads is remarkable, even very effective adhesion strength so that geckos can be hung from the ceiling with just one finger!

With record images that were wandering gecko on the wall, the scientists found that the gecko with carefully releasing rolls his fingers each time step. And when you remove his foot from the wall, geckos do the opposite, an action that is similar to the release tape from a surface. When a gecko running, small hairs on gecko toes decomposes to cling on the surface, and then apart when lifted gecko toes. Thus, it is known that the gecko foot does not consist of any sticky substance, so that the lizards do not use glue or liquid to cling. Geckos also does not require special surface for attached as required by Velcro.

The fact that the workings of gecko hair very different than regular glue (or Velcro) attracted the attention of researchers. Now they are diligently trying to make the world's first dry adhesive! Scientists also realized that this gecko hairs capable of cleaning itself, because it looks super tiny hairs on gecko toes always looks ultra clean and elastic. Now researchers do not yet know the cause, and when they find the answer, we can get rid of the glue stick in his hand, turned to glue dry and clean by itself.
